This course is designed for registrars in Dermatology and Anatomical Pathology. It will be held on June 8, 2019, commencing at 8.15am on Saturday at Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology, Macquarie Park. Onsite parking is available.
It will be highly interactive and include microscopic cases and lectures, followed by discussion of relevant, common and some unusual but important cases in skin pathology.
Course outline
High-quality histology slide session followed by interactive discussions.
Course topics
Inflammatory and neoplastic skin conditions.
Keynote Lectures:
Lecture 1: ‘An approach to inflammatory skin disorders’ – Dr Vicki Howard
Lecture 2: ‘From dermatoscope to microscope – How insights from dermatoscopy aid understanding of melanocytic lesions’ – Prof. Simon Clark
Lecture 3: ‘Clinical application of molecular tests’ – Dr Kym Mina
Objectives
The course is designed to be relevant to both dermatology and pathology registrars in different years of training and specialists interested in learning dermatopathology.
1)To provide a realistic approach for registrars to evaluate their levels of knowledge and progress in training and prepare dermatology registrars in their final year for the slide exam.
2)To assist registrars in developing an effective approach to unknown slides.
3)To discuss strategies to expand diagnostic and reporting skills.
4)To expose registrars to more virtual microscopy slides.
