Why has The RCPA cancelled Pathology Update 2020?
The RCPA recognises the educational value of Pathology Update and while there were significant attempts made to turn Pathology Update into virtual format conference this option is no longer feasible.

Can I get a letter for my insurance claim now that Pathology Update is not going ahead?

I am a trainee and was using my poster presentation to partially fulfil my Portfolio Training Requirements, what do I do?
The Chief Examiners have agreed to accept and verify Posters as evidence towards your PPD, despite you not getting the opportunity to display it at Pathology Update 2020. A teleconference session with Fellows will be offered, enabling you to present your Poster and be questioned. Information regarding this teleconference will be communicated to Trainees in this situation over the coming weeks.
The following Poster and Oral Poster Presentations that were scheduled to take place at Pathology Update are all cancelled.

I am due to Graduate with my Fellowship (or other Award). Will there be a Ceremony?
No. we regret to advise the Awards Ceremony is not proceeding for 2020.
Your Certificate will be mailed to you and you will be given the opportunity to attend the Award Ceremony in 2021. To this end, can you please advise if your mailing address has changed recently. Please email such changes to: josephinel@rcpa.edu.au

What do I do about my travel and accommodation?
All travel and accommodation booked through Spencer Travel, please contact them directly on events@spencertravel.com.au or call 02 8264 7 894.

When and where is Pathology Update 2021?
Pathology Update 2021 is in Melbourne from 19-21st February 2021.

My abstract was accepted for Pathology Update 2020. Is there a hard copy printed version of the supplement?
Yes, hard copies of the Pathology Journal are available from the College. Please contact Eda Cheng edac@rcpa.edu.au to have one posted to you.

Is there an electronic version of the Pathology Journal?
Yes, you can access all accepted abstracts via the Pathology Update 2020 app which is available to download from your app store, or view them online via the Pathology website: https://www.pathologyjournal.rcpa.edu.au/issue/S0031-3025(20)X0003-1

If my abstract was accepted for Pathology Update 2020, can I re-submit it for 2021?
Delegates registered for Pathology Update 2021 will be able to hang/present their poster from 2020 onsite at Pathology Update 2021. The abstract will also be available to view in the RCPA 2021 conference app. We are currently seeking advice regarding Abstracts published in the Pathology Journal 2020 edition being published in the online and print version of the Pathology Update 2021 Abstract Supplement. Information will be advertised when it is available.

Can I submit my abstract for publication anywhere else?
Yes, abstracts submitted for Pathology Update 2020 can be submitted to other journals/conferences, however you will need to advise them that the abstract has been published in the Pathology 2020 Abstract Supplement.

Some journals and conferences do not allow submission of previously published abstracts. Please contact the journal editors for clarification.
