Appropriate Tests

 

Full blood count. Blood film. Electrolytes.

Exclude other wasting diseases, including Addison’s disease (Adrenocortical insufficiency), AIDS, Hypopituitarism, malignancy.

Amenorrhoea

 

Hypokalaemia

May be due to laxative or diuretic abuse.

Anaemia

RBC morphology may mimic Haemolysis.
