Metabolic

 

  • Diabetes mellitus

Cataract development relates to adequacy of long-term control: glycolated haemoglobin (HbA1c).

  • Corticosteroid therapy

 

  • Hypoparathyroidism

 

Congenital

  • Rubella
  • Syphilis
  • Cytomegalovirus infection

 

Genetic

 

  • Galactosaemia

 

  • Wilson's disease

 

  • Zellweger syndrome
