Clinical diagnosis: fever, headache and rash with a history consistent with mite or tick bite.

Rickettsial Ab.

NAA from eschar biopsy or from buffy coat blood.

Typhus group

 

Spotted fever group (selected geographic locations in Australia)

Scrub typhus (selected geographic locations in Australia)

 

Q fever (not a rickettsia)
