Occasionally vacant registrar positions are also posted in the Job listings.

There is a centralised appointment system in the greater Sydney area that includes all public laboratories, St Vincents Hospital and the Douglass Hanly Moir laboratory. The public laboratory in the ACT is not included. This arrangement is supported by the RCPA and NSW Health Pathology.

There will be a centralized advertisement and application system though the NSW Health eRecruit system. Although employment contracts are for one year, the participating laboratories as a group have committed to ensuring that, provided there is satisfactory progress in training, registrars in the system will be able to complete their training at an accredited laboratory within the group.

While the laboratories will endeavor to match applicant preferences with laboratory preferences, applicants may not always be assigned their first preference and may be required to work at a laboratory that is not located within the inner Sydney metropolitan area. Applicants are expected to honor all assigments.

Participant laboratories are:

ICPMR, Westmead
St Vincents Hospital
Royal North Shore Hospital
Concord Hospital
Liverpool hospital
Royal Prince Alfred Hospital
Nepean Hospital
Prince of Wales Hospital
St George Hospital
Wollongong Hospital
John Hunter Hospital
